Liu Yangming acts as defending counsel for former Taiwanese legislator

The Chief Asia-Pacific Legal Adviser of DHH. Mr Liu Yangming was recently appointed as defending counsel for former Taiwanese legislator Wang Zhixiong. Mr Wang is accused of illegal lending.
 
A former political and business celebrity of Kaohsiung City and elected as legislator, Wang Zhixiong was wanted for prosecution in 2004 on an illegal loan case, and was sentenced in 2005 to four years and 6 months imprisonment on the ultra-loan case of Chung Shing.
 
He has also been involved in encroachment, money laundering and other crimes, and has been in hiding on the Mainland. He was arrested in Dalian, Liaoning Province, last month and was returned to Taiwan on 12th September. Mr Wang is the first heavyweight involved in economic crimes to have been returned to Taiwan after the cross-strait Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement was signed in 2009.
 
His legal representative Mr. Liu Yangming has practiced law for over 20 years in Taiwan, and is one of several lawyers qualified to practice both on the Mainland and in Taiwan. In recent years he has been actively expanding Mainland business for DHH and has spared no efforts to contribute to cross-strait legal exchanges. It is certain that Mr. Liu will be able to defend the rights and interests of the Wang Zhixiong to the greatest extent by making full use of his legal knowledge regarding both the Mainland and Taiwan.
