Study Group on Russian Legal Framework and Investment Opportunities Visited DHH Moscow Office

On the morning of September 28, 2019, Moscow time, a study group visited DHH Moscow Office at Greenwood where it started a one-and-a-half-day special training activity.
 
 
Lawyer Tao Cheng, who presided over the special training activities, introduced the lecturers of the Greenwood office in Moscow. Tingting Wang, Executive Director of Greenwood Office, warmly welcomed the study group.
 
 
The group's special training activities at Greenwood office in Moscow began at 9:30 a.m. on September 28. The first lecture on “Legal System of the Russian Federation” was given by Lawyers Constantine and Jinzhe Chu. The lecturers discussed both theory and case studies with all the participants.
 


 
The second lecture was divided into two parts. The first part was given by lawyers Maksim and Xi Chen. The topic was related to the Chinese investment in Russia. During the second part,lawyers Alexei and Xi Chen shared with the members of the group an overall review of the Russian tax law system.
 


 
The last part dedicated to the China-Russia Customs Legal Risk Prevention and Control was successfully held by Chinese and Russian criminal and customs lawyers.
 
 
The seminar focused on the topic of Customs Legal Risk Prevention and Control. First, DHH Partner Tao Cheng made a welcome speech and introduced the criminal lawyer representatives attending the seminar. During the seminar, Chinese and Russian criminal lawyers actively discussed the questions on the process of criminal defense in both countries.
 
 
China's criminal lawyer Yao Jin used the chart to introduce the classification of criminal business at China's customs and relevant legal provisions in detail.
 
 
Russian criminal defense lawyers Sergei and Nicola also introduced the characteristics of Russian customs criminal law practice.
 
 
In the evening, members of the Legal Branch of the China General Chamber of Commerce in Russia were invited to the Greenwood office for a visit and a dinner. Both sides jointly discussed the cooperation and friendly exchanges between Chinese and Russian lawyers.
 
 
At 9:30 a.m. on September 29, the first part of the third session of the special training activity was given by lawyers Thomas and Tingting Wang. The content was related to Russian investment and M&A. During the second part, lawyers Li Lei and Tingting Wang talked about the Russian labor law and described the labor law disputes frequently encountered by Chinese-funded enterprises in Russia on the basis of practical cases.
 


 
On the one hand, the rich thematic training activities gave the members of the study group a chance to have friendly discussions with the Chinese and Russian lawyers in the Greenwood office in Moscow. On the other hand, they also allowed them to get a general understanding of the Russian legal system. In the course of lectures, lawyers mostly shared the problems encountered in the process of their practice and experience. Excellent delivering of lectures of all the speakers was highly praised by the members of the group.
 
 
After the training on the morning of September 29, members of the study group moved to the second office of DHH Moscow, the Yanjie office, located in the centre of Moscow. Luping Li, Executive Director of Yanjie Office, had a discussion with the members of the group. Lawyer Luping Li introduced to the lawyers of the study group the background of the establishment of Yanjie Office, the professional experience and specialization of Russian lawyers, as well as the development and prospects of their business. Subsequently, a brief discussion was made on the Russian law firms and legal system.
 


 
Subsequently, at the invitation of the Chinese Student Union of Moscow University, the group visited the Moscow National University and further discussed the intern recommendation project of the Moscow Office.
 
 
On the morning of September 30, the group visited the DHH Moscow Office on the 27th floor of the Federal Tower in Moscow's financial center. During the visit, they had friendly exchanges with members of the legal branch working in the office. Partners from Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan and Shenyang also invited the members of the Moscow office to visit them in China and expressed the hope to have opportunities for cooperation in future.
 
 
On the afternoon of the 30th, DHH successfully concluded its visit to Moscow. With a harvest of knowledge and experience, the members of the group took a train to St. Petersburg, a Hero City, starting a new journey of exploring the Russian legal service market.
