DHH Washington Office Attended 2019 Chinese American Women in History Conference

Recently, the 2019 Chinese American Women in History Conference (CAWH) hosted by the Museum of Chinese in America was held in Washington, D.C. DHH Washington Office was invited to attend this conference.
 
 

 
The 2019 CAWH Conference aimed to promote research and raise awareness of the contribution of Chinese American women in history. In addition to promoting inter-generational dialogue and understanding among contemporary Chinese Americans, it also sought to address the gaps in the narrative history of women in the Chinese American community before 1965.
 
On the first day of the conference, delegates focused on everything from the Page Act of 1875 to the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, in particular the War Brides Act and their influences. On the second day, the conference was mainly about learning about and treasuring the stories of Chinese American women in the history of America’s development.
 


 
Through two days of academic research and personal narrative, the 2019 CAWH Conference brought people’s attention to the underappreciated history of the American society.
