DHH Washington Office Invited to Attend Sichuan Promotion in Washington DC

On the morning of July 6th, 2017, China Sichuan Provincial People’s Government and Sichuan Provincial People’s Government Foreign Affairs and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office held the Sichuan Promotion in Washington. DHH Washington Law Office rotation lawyer Yan Xin and Legal Assistant Xingya Guo attended the event. More than 150 guests from Sichuan Provincial Government delegation, Sichuan entrepreneur delegation, Washington government and Washington business representatives attended this event.
The Sichuan delegation arrived Washington from first stop in Toronto, Canada, and will continue to visit Mexico City in Mexico and San Francisco. At each stop, the delegation hosts a business and talent attraction event to interact with local businesses. An uplifting Sichuan video started off the event. Beautiful sceneries and fanciful food combined with adorable pandas made everyone in the audience longing to visit. Sichuan Governor Li Yin introduced basic information of Sichuan, highlighted its strategic importance on the Yangtze River economic zone and One Belt, One Road. Governor Yin made three suggestions: first, to strengthen cooperation at both industry-to-industry and enterprise-to-enterprise levels, with focuses on the following sectors: modern agriculture, aviation, automobile, electronic technology, financial, bioscience, high-end medical care, big data, e-commerce and logistics. Second, to strengthen cooperation in innovation and creativityn. Starting a new round of technology-driven innovation projects and exploring other innovation platforms centered on industrial chain deployment. Expanding the cooperation between universities, research institutions and enterprises, to promote the training and communication between talents from Sichuan and US. Third, to strengthen cultural, tourism and educational cooperation. Sichuan believes in sharing growth opportunities with American corporations on the base of mutual benefit.
Minister of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America Kexin Li applauded that Sichuan Provincial Government delegation visited Washington at a crucial time for the development between China and the US. In April, Chairman Jinping Xi met with President Trump to started the first round of diplomacy and security dialogue and they reached several consensus. US and China communications on the highest level can bring positive effects on extending exchanges and strengthening cooperation. Sichuan enjoys the reputation of “Land of Abundance”, however, abundance also comes at human costs and takes generations of hard work and cultivation. He hopes Sichuan could leverage a three-dimensional traffic system, including waterway, land and air, to grasp opportunity and contribute to Sino-US relationship.
Brian Kenner, Deputy Mayor of DC and Ms. Sharon Carney, Economic Strategy Director at the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development of Washington introduced development opportunities in Washington. Washington, DC has 68 square miles, 672,893 residents and attracts 21 million annual visitors. The advantages of DC include being the third strongest local economies in the US, having transportation and mobility options and faster population growth than any state since 2010, and having access to the largest consumer base in the US.
Mr. Shuping He, Executive Deputy Director at Sichuan Tianfu New Area Administrative Committee promoted Tianfu New Area. The national Sichuan Tianfu New Area, located in Western China at the hinterland of the Chengdu Plain, has an optimal investment environment and the greatest growth potential in Sichuan. Four core industries of Tianfu New Area are automobile manufacture, electronic technology, biomedicine and modern agriculture. Many returnees locate inside the New Area, benefiting significantly from preferential policies, effective integration of industry, academia, research and application, as well as readily available talents, many of the young start-up have achieved rapid growth.
