The Lecture on Recognition and Enforcement of Chinese Judgments in the United States was Successfully Held at Beijing DHH (Qingdao) Law Firm

On the afternoon of April 14, 2023, the International Commercial and Investment Committee of Qingdao Lawyers Association and the International Commercial and Maritime Commission of Shinan District Lawyers Association jointly held a lecture and exchange event on the recognition and enforcement of Chinese judgments in the United States. The event was held at Beijing DHH (Qingdao) Law Firm, with Yumei GAO, Deputy Director of the International Business and Investment Committee of the Qingdao Lawyers Association, and Peiyin YANG, Executive President of Shandong DHH Law Firm, attending the event. The event specially invited Lawyer Liang MEI, Director of the Washington Office of Beijing DHH Law Firm, to give a lecture on the recognition and enforcement of Chinese judgments in the United States. Some members of the International Commercial and Investment Committee of the Qingdao Lawyers Association and the International Commercial and Maritime Commission of the Shinan District Lawyers Association participated in the exchange through online and offline means. The meeting was chaired by Xiuchao LI, Executive Director of Beijing DHH (Qingdao) Law Firm.
Lawyer Liang MEI is a practicing lawyer in China and California, USA. Since practicing in the United States, he has represented Chinese companies in various litigation cases in California, New Jersey, Washington, and federal courts, involving intellectual property disputes, international trade disputes, cross-border asset recovery, and other fields. Lawyer Liang MEI, based on his own professional experience, shared the methods of debt recovery and property investigation in the United States, explained the legal basis, basic requirements, and relevant cases for applying for recognition of Chinese judgments in American courts, and introduced the enforcement procedures in California and various expenses involved in debt recovery.
Finally, the on-site attendees had a thorough exchange with lawyer Liang MEI on issues such as foreign client fraud, US judicial system, dispute resolution, and litigation procedures. Through lawyer Liang MEI's sharing, attendees gained an overall understanding of the US judicial system and gained a deeper understanding of the legal provisions and procedures for applying for recognition and enforcement of Chinese judgments in the United States, laying a solid foundation for providing more comprehensive services to domestic clients in the future.
