DHH Co-hosts Lecture with Mayer Brown LLP
Wang Jun, Partner of Shandong Deheng Law Firm and Director of IP Business Department, hosted the lecture, while Gary Hnath, Partner of Mayer Brown LLP Washington D.C. office and Zhang Jing, Global Trade Associate, gave a speech. Among which, Gary Hnath talked about “U.S. Patent Law and Export Administration Law: Challenges and Opportunities that Chinese Companies are Facing”, then Zhang Jing instructed “U.S. Export Control and Economic Sanction Compliance: The Revelation of the ZTE settlement case”. Gary Hnath introduced IP litigations in the U.S. with specific cases, focused on U.S. International Trade Commission and Inter Partes Review. After his introduction, the audience was encouraged to know about ITC AND IPRs, grew better understanding of relevant cases.
Zhang Jing lectured about the ZTE settlement case, to demonstrate the importance of U.S. export control and economic sanction compliance, and who has to comply with the law, jurisdiction of ITAR and EAR, how EAR classifies “merchandise” and how to prevent risks of violating export control, how U.S. regulates economic sanctions and to lower the risks of economic sanctions. Later, participants came up with questions for Gary Hnath and Zhang Jing who answered them with patience thoroughly.
