Lawyers from DHH Hong Kong Office Attended the 32nd LAWASIA Annual Conference

Fromn November 5 to 8, 2019, the 32nd LAWASIA Annual Conference was held in Hong Kong. Yi Zhang, Director of DHH Hong Kong Office and Linlin Su, Executive Director attended the conference. As one of the most far-reaching legal events in the Asia-Pacific region, the conference attracted nearly a thousand legal practitioners from dozens of countries around the world to participate in discussion and exchange on promoting the construction and application of judicial systems, legal systems, legal education systems in a more rational way, promoting the development of regional society and deepening international exchange.
At the meeting, Yunxi Peng, President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, Zhaofu Liang, President of LAWASIA, Daoli Ma, Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Ruohua Cheng, Secretary of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, attended the welcoming ceremony and delivered speeches respectively. Representative lawyers from DHH Hong Kong office participated mainly in the forums on“Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms, “Multimedia Data Protection”, “International Finance”, “the Belt and Road Legal Forum”, etc., and fully explored the feasibility of business cooperation with domestic and foreign lawyers and established cooperation in relevant legal service fields.

Established in 1966, LAWASIA is one of the most important international organizations in the field of law in Asia and Pacific and has important influence in the legal community in the Asia-Pacific region. LAWASIA holds consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council and observer status in the World Intellectual Property Organization. It is a cooperative partner of the United Nations Economic and Social Organization. The China Law Society joined the LAWASIA in 1986 and has maintained exchanges and cooperation with it ever since. Mr. Qi Jiang, Managing Partner of DHH,was appointed by the China Law Society as the Executive Director of Lawyers Law Research Council and Director of Research Department of China Law Society, actively participating in the relevant work of the society and the council and communicating and coordinating related matters in China. In recent years, with the support of the China Law Society, more and more Chinese lawyers have actively participated in and made full use of the cooperative exchange mechanism of LAWASIA.
