Representatives of the National Judges College and a Group of Judges from Latin America Visited Beijing DHH Law Firm

On September 24, the exchange meeting on "China's Lawyer System and Law Firm Operation Model" was held at Beijing DHH Law Firm on the 12th floor of Yintai Center. More than forty foreign judges from eight countries and leaders of the National Judges College attended the meeting where they conducted in-depth communication and exchange with Mr. Xiye Fu, Executive Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, Ms. Shan Luan, Executive Vice President of DHH and Co-Executive Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, Dr. Bo Jiang, Executive Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, Director Ying Zhao and other partners and lawyers.

At 9:30 a.m., Ms. Shan Luan, Co-executive Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, as the host of the event, warmly welcomed the guests and announced the formal start of the exchange meeting.
During the first part of the meeting, Mr. Xiaomin Li, Vice President of the National Judges College, delivered a speech. President Li thanked Vice President Luan and other partners for their hospitality and highly praised the development and outstanding performance of Beijing DHH Law Firm in recent years. He praised DHH as a representative of the best law firms in China. Then, Mr. Ivan Alberto Sequeiros Vargas, a judge of the Supreme Court of Peru, thanked DHH on behalf of the members of the foreign group and expressed his belief that this exchange could provide a better understanding of China's legal system.

During the second part, Dr. Bo Jiang, Executive Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, systematically introduced China‘s Lawyer System in terms of lawyers，law firms and the organizational structure of lawyers’ associations. Then, Ms. Ying Zhao, Managing Director of Beijing DHH Law Firm, gave a comprehensive explanation and demonstration of the organizational structure and working mode of Chinese law firms, taking Beijing DHH Law Firm as an example.

During the third part, Ms. Shan Luan, Executive Vice President of DHH, shared her experience on the “Internationalization of Beijing DHH Law Firm”. Ms. Luan shared with the guests a review of the international development of Beijing DHH Law Firm and gave an analysis and outlook on foreign-related legal business development under the current international background.
In order to help honored guests better understand China’s lawyer system and the operation model of Chinese law firms, International Department of DHH and young lawyers introduced the office environment as well as the development course and achievements of DHH’s legal social practice while showing them around the office.
In the final interactive session of the exchange meeting, judges from Latin American countries and the event organizers had an in-depth discussion on such issues as the lawyers’ code of practice and confidentiality issue in China, the construction of state-owned law firms, transfer procedure and and punishment mechanism of Chinese law firms, whether law magazines can criticize legal mechanisms in China, how the judiciary defines lawyers, etc. Vice President Shan Luan, Dr. Bo Jiang and Director Ying Zhao answered the questions raised by the judges. The exchange was successfully concluded with a dynamic discussion in a lively atmosphere.
As a bridge between Latin American countries and Chinese legal practitioners, this activity has laid a foundation for the future cooperation in legal matters between Latin America and DHH Law Firm which is of great significance for strengthening the legal cooperation between the countries under the "Belt and Road" framework. In the future, Beijing DHH Law Firm hopes to have more exchanges between lawyers from different countries and have more opportunities to learn from each other, to build a comprehensive and mutually beneficial cooperation pattern, and to contribute to the global judicial cooperation.
