On the morning of May 28th, President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, attended the 9th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association and had a cordial meeting with all representatives of the Quinquennial Committee of Chinese Overseas Association at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People. President Xi extended his warm welcome and congratulations to all the attendees and his sincere greetings to overseas Chinese all over the world. Mr. Yang Wang, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC and Chairman of CPPCC, also attended the Conference.

Chief Partner Yi Yuan of DHH Moscow Office and Co-president Zhigang Chen of DHH Legal Center in St. Petersburg attended the Conference as Russian representatives and both of them were appointed as Member of the Fifth Committee of Chinese Overseas Association.
The 9th Conference for Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association, co-organized by Overseas Chinese Affairs of the Council and All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, was successfully held on May 29th. It was proposed during the Conference that all overseas Chinese set good images as national cards and that Overseas Chinese leaders should set a good example for setting up the image of a big country in the new era. In particular, it emphasized that we should pay more attention to abiding by the local laws, respect local social and cultural customs, and adhering to “Gentlemen love fortune, in a proper way!”. Chinese lawyers and law firms in Russia will keep on serving for overseas Chinese and Chinese-funded enterprises, thus escorting the realization of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Mr. Zhigang Chen was nominated as Chairman of the Friendship of Overseas Chinese Association in St. Petersburg and Dr. Yi Yuan was nominated as Executive Vice-president of the Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China and Russia.
