Study Tour on Russian Legal Framework and Investment Opportunities Concluded Successfully

In order to broaden lawyers’ horizon, a study tour on Russian legal framework and investment opportunities was successfully held in Moscow and St. Petersburg from September 26 to October 7. The study tour was organized by DHH, co-sponsored by Northwest Management College of National College of Economics and State Administration of the Russian Federation, Moscow Blue Sea Legal Culture Center and Qingdao Chief Justice Law Training School.
 
On September 26, a group of 12 legal elites from all parts of China boarded a plane from Qingdao to Moscow and started a study tour in Russia.
 
 
Moscow was the first stop of this study tour. On September 27, group members visited Red Square and Arbat Street, learned about Russian religious culture, appreciated local architecture, and visited Moscow's "heart" and the historical birthplace - the Kremlin Palace.
 
 
On September 28, the group visited DHH Moscow Greenwood Office and started the one-and-a-half-day special training program, which included such topics as the Russian Federation's legal system, related issues of Chinese investment in Russia, Russian tax law system, Russian investment and M&A related issues, practical cases of labor law disputes frequently encountered by Chinese-funded enterprises in Russia. The above courses were mainly provided by local Russian lawyers in DHH Moscow Office.
 
 
The last part of the training program on September 28 was a seminar on the prevention and control of legal risks in Chinese and Russian customs, which was jointly organized by Chinese and Russian criminal and customs lawyers. The seminar focused on the topic of customs legal risk prevention and control. First, DHH Partner Tao Cheng made a welcome speech and introduced the criminal lawyers attending the seminar. During the seminar, Chinese and Russian criminal lawyers actively asked and discussed issues that both parties were interested in such as the process of criminal defense of lawyers from the other country.

In the evening of September 28, the Moscow Greenwood office invited members of the Legal Branch of the China General Chamber of Commerce in Russia for a banquet. Both sides discussed the cooperation and friendly exchanges between Chinese and Russian lawyers.
 
 
After the morning training on September 29, members of the study group moved to the second office of DHH Moscow, the Yanjie Office, located in the centre of Moscow. Luping Li, Executive Director of Yanjie Office, had a discussion with the members of the group and introduced to the lawyers of the study group the background of the establishment of Yanjie Office, the professional experience and specialization of Russian lawyers, as well as the development and prospects of their business. Subsequently, a brief discussion was made on the Russian law firms and legal system.
 
 
Subsequently, at the invitation of the Chinese Student Union of Moscow University, the group visited the Moscow National University and further discussed the intern recommendation project of the Moscow Office.
 
 
On the morning of September 30, the group visited the DHH Moscow Office on the 27th floor of the Federal Tower in Moscow Financial Center. During the visit, they had friendly exchanges with members of the legal branch working in the office.
 
 
On October 1, at the invitation of DHH St. Petersburg Office, the members of the group came to the St. Petersburg Office in the Russian-Chinese Business Park in St. Petersburg for a study exchange. They visited the office accompanied by Director and watched the military parade together.
 

 
From October 2 to October 4, the group had a three-day training course at the Northwest School of Management of the National Institute of Economics and State Administration directly affiliated to the President of the Russian Federation. The main courses included: Russian Federation Administrative Law, Civil Law and International Arbitration, a total of 18 hours of classroom training and 2 hours of round table discussion. After the training, the Northwest School of Management of the National Institute of Economics and State Administration directly affiliated to the President of the Russian Federation, issued a certificate of completion to each trainee.
 
 
On the morning of October 5, members of the study group visited the Russian-Chinese Business Park. They were warmly received by the President of the Russian-Chinese Business Park, the Chairman of the Russia-China “Belt and Road”Strategic Development Research Association, and Mr. Zhigang Chen, academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
 
In addition to trainings and visiting exchanges, the group also visited Neva Street, Winter Palace Square and Yekaterina Palace, and went to watch the Champions League at the stadium. Not only has it forged profound friendship within all sectors, but also laid a good foundation for helping Chinese companies to invest smoothly in Russia in the future.
 
 
On October 7, the study tour ended successfully, and the members of the study group returned to their warm homes with a harvest of knowledge and experience. This Russian study tour was organized by the Moscow Blue Sea Legal Culture Center and Qingdao Chief Justice Law Training School for the first time and has laid a foundation for a future Law+Art Tour.
