First “Sino-Korean Lawyers FTA Conference” successfully held in Seoul
On February 2, 2015, a team of fourteen people from Beijing DHH Law Firm visited Hanxing Law Firm and attended the conference of “New opportunity brought by the signing of Sino-Korean FTA” in Seoul, South Korea. Hanxing Law Firm is highly experienced in areas including financial services, securities, international trade, intellectual property and immigration.
During the conference, attendees discussed topics regarding the Sino-Korean FTA such as trade in goods and services, international trade, intellectual property, tariffs, and trade dispute resolution and also analyzed the potential challenges and opportunities brought by the FTA. Mr. Chung-Wu Ha (president of the Defense Attorney Association of South Korea), Mr. Yong-Won Kim (managing partner of Hanxing Law Firm) and Mr. Jiang Qi (general director of Beijing DHH Law Firm) gave out speeches. Mr. Li Xuxiu (general director of Shandong Deheng Law Firm) and other thirteen Chinese lawyers along with sixteen South Korean lawyers from Hanxing Law Firm also attended the conference.
The conference included seven main topics ranging from Sino-Korean trade relationships, international investment and intellectual property to trading support, dispute resolution and new opportunities under FTA environment. The conference created seven publicly available results that can be used to improve the communication and cooperation between Chinese and South Korean lawyers.
Mr. Jiang Qi claimed that, South Korea-related practice is one of the most crucial practice areas of DHH. DHH is well-prepared to engage in new practices under FTA environment and the partners of DHH have agreed unanimously on the decision of establishing the first Chinese Law Firm in South Korea.
