On the afternoon of September 11, 2018, Mr. Gregory N. Mandel,Dean of Temple University Beasley School of Law, and Mr. John Smagula,Director of Tsinghua-Temple LLM Program, visited Beijing DHH Law Firm located in Yintai Center. Managing Partner Qi Jiang, Co-executive Director Li Ren, and Partners of Intellectual Property Department—Lawyer Hao Chen, Lawyer Chunhui Fang, Lawyer Liangyong Liu, Lawyer Xiantao Song, Lawyer Lei Zhang, Lawyer Tian Sun, Lawyer Chunhua Cui, etc., warmly welcomed the guests. The two sides exchanged views on intellectual property issues between China and the United States.
Qi Jiang first gave a welcome address and a brief introduction of Beijing DHH Law Firm to the visiting guests, including the development scale, strategic planning, and Temple University alumni working in DHH. Up to now, Beijing DHH Law Firm has possessed more than 30 offices in China and nine offices overseas, with over 1,200 attorneys, including ten Temple University alumni, among which six are working in Beijing Office (one of them is now working in the government department), and the other four are in Shanghai, Qingdao, Singapore, and Seattle respectively. Subsequently, Qi Jiang and Lawyer Li Ren had a warm exchange with the visiting guests on how to deepen cooperation between Temple University Law School and Beijing DHH Law Firm.
Mr. Gregory N. Mandel,Dean of Temple University Beasley School of Law, first introduced the development of Temple University and China's LLM project, and then focused on a series of his psychological experiments on intellectual property. The representatives of Intellectual Property Department of Beijing DHH Law Firm discussed on Mr. Mandel’s speech as well as intellectual property issues involved in the 301 investigation.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides discussed issues related to the 20th anniversary celebration of the China Project Office. Qi Jiang and Li Ren accompanied the guests to visit Beijing DHH Law Firm and posed for a group photo.
Temple University alumni Mr. Wenyan Qin from Gaopeng & Partners, Mr. Xuexuan Liu from Golden Concord Power Group Limited, Mr. Yifan Cui from Cisco, Jun Zhao from 360 Limited and Mr. Wenjun Yue from Minmetals Development Co., LTD also attended the meeting.
Mr. Gregory N. Mandel received bachelor’s degrees of physics and astronomy in Wesleyan University and a doctorate of law in Stanford Law School. Focusing on the fields of intellectual property law and the integration of innovation, technology and law, he has won National Science Foundation Award for three consecutive years. Besides, he was an executive member of Intellectual Property Department of American Law School Association, and conducted a series of psychological experiments on intellectual property in China and the United States.
