DHH Jointly Hosted The First “Sino-foreign Law Firm Co-Developing Forum & Reception”
May 16, 2015, the first “Sino-Foreign Law Firms Co-developing Forum & Reception” was held in Beijing and brought the legal industry a summit which allowed every participant to get together and access to the opportunities of multinational cooperation. This Forum was jointly hosted by Beijing DHH Law Firm, Hong Kong W.K.TO & CO, the legal consultant committee of CASME, the Elite Chinese Legal Alliance (ECLA). It was also the first Sino-Foreign legal interaction which organized in China domestically. Over 90 Lawyers from almost 60 law firms were present at the meeting, and the guest speakers are partners and attorneys from countries and regions including the USA, Germany, the UK, India, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The forum was honored to invite a celebrity in the legal circle--Professor Jiang Ping to deliver a speech. In his speech, Mr. Jiang mainly focused on the encouragement to Chinese as well as foreign lawyers about adhering to study and learning from each other.
Attendees included Jiang Qi, Zhang Wen, Li Xuxiu, senior partners Wang Haijun, Li Yonglan, Jin Guangxie, partners Chen Hao, Tang Huadong, Meng Qingjun, Gao Tao and Gao Shuxun, senior advisor An Qingmin, and partners of different branches Qiu Yuxia, Gao Hongyan, Hao Xiaoping, Liu Junli, Mao Juping and Zhao Jing. The host was Liu Kejiang, who is the executive director of DHH.
The forum included three themes which were Cross-border cooperation under the background of Chinese enterprises’ globalization strategy, FTZ legal issues and New opportunities in the legal service market brought by the ‘One Belt And One Road’ strategy’. The models of implementing global strategy for Chinese enterprise and the FDI and M&A permission of China were also freely and sufficiently discussed, particularly on how to enlarge Chinese legal service market under the background of the strengthen of “Opening-up”, ‘FTZ’ as well as ‘One Belt And One Road’ hotspots by the Chinese government.
Mr. Du Weiqiang, the name partner of Hong Kong W.K.TO&CO, one of the sponsors, discussed the possibility of diverse cross-border cooperation among lawyers. Thereafter, Mr. Li Yu, counsel of Dentons, Ms. Zhao Hui, representative of Taylor Wessing, Mr. King Longyuan, director of Hanxing, Mr. Santosh Pai, chief representative in China of D.H., respectively made speech on “Legal issues in the anti-dumping field”, “Legal issues faced by Chinese enterprises conducting M&A in Germany”, “Investment in Korea by Chinese enterprises” and “Legal issues related to the investment in India”. Mr. Tang Huadong, director of DHH Shanghai, introduced the “The legal issues related to the utilization of both-way capital pool in FTZ”. Mr. An Qingmin An, senior counsel of DHH, and Ms. Jing Zhao, partner of DHH, delivered a speech concerning the “One Belt And One Road” and its influence on the legal service market. Dr. Zhou Zhaofeng, partner of Bird & Bird, addressed how enterprises dealing with the anti-monopoly law when practicing global. Mr. Zuorong Zhao, partner of Robinsons, briefed the relation between Austrilian infrastructure construction and the “One Belt And One Road” strategy.
Mark R. Shulman, who is the Asia head of New York City Bar, was also invited and gave a brief introduction of this non-governmental organization and also its position and function in developing New York laws and regulations. After that, Mr. Shulman advocated Chinese Lawyers to join the association in order to create cooperation.
After the forum, participants were invited to the reception held in a Beijing quadrangle, spent a wonderful time enjoying Chinese traditional opera as well as the charm of this ancient and modern city, a financial, legal and traditional center of China.
