DHH Was Named To China Business Law Journal “Deals of the Year 2020” List

Recently, the leading Asian legal media China Business Law Journal released its list for “Deals of the Year 2020” and DHH team lead by Tian Sun and Li Ren was named to the list for the deal of “merger of China Ship Heavy Industry Group and China Ship Industry Group”.
The list highlights outstanding China-related deals and cases in 2020, applauding remarkable legal efforts.
Merger of China Ship Heavy Industry Group and China Ship Industry Group
DHH acted as the PRC legal counsel and Clifford Chance acted as the overseas legal counsel.
On 26 November 2019, China Ship Industry Group (known as “Ship Group in the South of China”) and China Ship Heavy Industry Group (known as “Ship Group in the North of China”) carried out merger and reorganization to newly establish the China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (“CSSC”). Both groups have many affiliates with complicated relationship of competition as well as upstream and downstream, and representing huge market shares. DHH team sorted out relevant data and issued professional opinion on the determination of relevant market and analysis of market shares, and obtained the decision from the State Administration for Market Regulation of PRC not to ban the merger. Upon establishment, CSSC became the largest ship building group in the world, with the largest ship building base in China and the total asset amount of RMB790 billion.
