The Delegation of China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises led by Luan Shaohu Attended the “Select USA Investment Summit” in Washington D.C.
On March 23 and 24, 2015 (EST), the “Select USA Investment Summit” sponsored by the United States Department of Commerce was held in Washington D.C. The summit was hosted by Ms. Penny Pritzker, the US secretary of commerce. More than 1300 corporation representatives from over 70 countries and regions, along with over 500 US federal or state investment officers attended the summit. The Chinese delegation of over 150 members is the largest delegation among attendees. The summit demonstrated themes including the US economic recovery plan, new energy, protection of intellectual property, investment opportunity in rural area, infrastructure investment, tax policy on foreign investment, successful cases of small and medium-sized enterprises’ investment in the US, and export situation of US goods and services. The summit aimed to attract foreign investment to United States so as to provide more job opportunity as well as to stimulate economic growth. President Obama gave out speech during the summit. Other attendees include, Mr. John Kerry (US secretary of state), Mr. Jacob Lew (US secretary of treasury), Mr. Tom Vilsack (US secretary of agriculture), Mr. Freeman (representative of trade), Mr. Thomas Perez (US secretary of labor), and Mr. Anthony Foxx (US secretary of transportation). The executive chairman of Google, Mr. Eric Schmidt also gave out a speech during the session, and Mr. Warren Buffet illustrated the advantage of investment in the US via video chat.
Mr. Luan Shaohu, Mr. Liu Kejiang, Mr. Liu Jiqing, Ms. Li Yonglan, Ms. Luan Shan, Ms. Zhang Lei, Mr. Lu Shengkuan along with several entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized enterprises participated in the summit. They held conversations with Mr. Gary Locke, the former US ambassador to China and Mr. Max Baucus, the current US ambassador to China and also attended the banquet hosting by Mr. Cui Tiankai, the Chinese ambassador to the United States.
During his interview with Phoenix TV, Mr. Luan Shaohu stated that he hopes that both China and the US would welcome each others’ investment and attempt to decrease the investment threshold; he also wished that there will be a win-win consequence from the Sino-US cooperation.
