Lawyer Yu Haisheng Provides Legal Services for Applying for H.K. Money Lender License and Trademark Registration
Recently, Yu Haisheng, senior partner of Beijing DHH Law Firm and head of DHH Hong Kong office, was entrusted by a client from mainland China to apply for a money lenders license and trademark registration at the Companies Registry and the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong.
In accordance with the Money Lenders Ordinance Of Hong Kong effective as of December, 1980, anyone who wants to operate a money-lending business in Hong Kong must first obtain a money lenders license, which is issued and regulated by the Hong Kong Companies Registry. According to the Ordinance, lenders shall be fined and imprisoned if the money-lending business is carried on unlicensed. Loans from an unlicensed money-lenders shall not be protected by the law.
