On the afternoon of January 27th, 2024, the fifth DHH Acadamic Summit was successfully held in Beijing. Nearly 300 attendees, including legal experts and professors from the Belt and Road International Lawyers Association (BRILA) and renowned universities, as well as all equity partners, chief joint partners, and award-winning representatives of DHH&DH, gathered to delve into cutting-edge legal academic topics, explore the guiding significance of academic research for lawyer practice, and envision the future development direction of integrating lawyer practice with academic research.
The academic annual conference was convened under the presidency of Dr. LIU Kejiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of DHH, and Director of the Academic Advisory Committee of the DHH Research Institute. On behalf of more than 4,000 lawyers and staff from DHH&DH, President LIU Kejiang extended heartfelt gratitude and a warm welcome to all guests.

HU Ming, Chairwoman of the Partner Meeting of DHH and Director of the DHH Research Institute, delivered the opening address. Director HU stated that the Lawyer Practice Academic Annual Conference of DHH has successfully entered its fifth session, expressing gratitude to all experts, professors, and industry elites who have accompanied it along the way, as well as to the contributing authors and participating judges. Over the past year, the DHH Research Institute has received care and support from all sectors of society, achieving remarkable development and significant achievements. In response to the diverse needs and priorities of regional, professional, and industrial legal services, it has successively established 8 branch institutes. The current Lawyer Practice Academic Annual Conference has received 518 submissions from more than 300 lawyers, with the number of academic judges also reaching a new high.
Professor JIAO Hongchang, a professor at China University of Political Science and Law, Counselor to the State Council, and Vice President of the Association of Constitutional Law of CLS, extended heartfelt congratulations on the successful convening of this academic event in his speech. He hoped that DHH lawyers would continue to innovate in practice and make genuine academic contributions.
In his address, Kang Yu, Secretary-General of BRILA, expressed gratitude for DHH's invitation and wished the Lawyer Practice Academic Annual Conference a complete success. Secretary-General Kang affirmed DHH's brand visibility and the quality of its foreign-related legal services, hoping that DHH and the Belt and Road Lawyers Alliance would continue to enhance cooperation in foreign-related legal services to contribute to the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Under the moderation of Dr. JIANG Bo, Executive Director of DHH and Executive Director of the DHH Research Institute, the annual conference entered the academic report and expert commentary session. Senior Equity Partners of DHH&DH's branch offices, including Lawyer HUANG Zhenda, Lawyer LI Jie, Lawyer YANG Guangming (Senior Equity Partner and Dean of the Greater Bay Area Branch of the DHH Research Institute), Lawyer Liu Junli, Lawyer BAI Yaohua (Senior Equity Partner and Dean of the Shanghai Branch of the DHH Research Institute), and Lawyer ZHOU Jincai, successively shared their thinking results on theoretical issues in the process of engaging in legal practice.
At the summit, all guests witnessed the official establishment of the Dispute Source Governance Workstation jointly established by the Beijing Association for Alternative Dispute Resolution and Beijing DHH Law Firm. Mr. ZHAI Jingmin, President of the Beijing Association for Alternative Dispute Resolution; Lawyer HU Ming, Chairperson of the Partner Meeting of DHH; Lawyer LI Xuxiu, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shandong Deheng Law Firm; Lawyer JI Cheng, Managing Partner and Executive President of DHH; and Dr. LIU Rundong, Senior Co-Managing Partner of DHH, jointly unveiled the "Beijing Association for Alternative Dispute Resolution Beijing DHH Dispute Source Governance Workstation".
In the fourth session of the event, Lawyer LIN Qian, Secretary-General of DHH's Business Center and Senior Equity Partner, unveiled the Top 10 Legal Service Products and Best Organization Award of the Legal Service Product Competition. Professor LI Shouping, Dean of the Law School of Beijing Institute of Technology, lauded DHH's exceptional legal service quality in his commentary, urging DHH lawyers to embrace the transformation from productization to intelligence in the new technological revolution era and proactively engage with national development and social progress.
As the event drew to a close, Professor Du Huanfang, Party Secretary and Associate Dean of Renmin University of China Law School, delivered a concluding address. Professor Du commended the award-winning papers for their professionalism and excellence, highlighted the insights in expert commentaries, and noted that legal service products precisely addressed economic and social development needs. Professor Du put forward three expectations for the next annual conference, wishing DHH greater academic achievements to fuel social advancement. Director LIU Kejiang pledged that all DHH lawyers would forge ahead unswervingly, pursuing excellence to contribute to the construction of the Rule of Law in China.
