Thomson Reuters and DHH Reaches Strategic Partnership

On November 15, Thomson Reuters and DHH held a signing ceremony at the China Financial Information Center in Shanghai to jointly announce the agreement on strategic partnership between them.
 
The strategic partnership agreement reached between the parties, with the Elite software system as the core, will give full play to DHH's strengths in personnel scale, management model, alliance platform, combined with Thomson Reuters’ experience in the law firm industry, international user platform and domestic and international publicity channels and other resource advantages. In order to achieve mutual promotions, joint benefits and win-win results, parties will cooperate in the fields of publicity and resource sharing.
 
On the morning of the 15th, the signing ceremony was held on the third floor of the New York Hall of the China Financial Information Center, located on the banks of the Huangpu River.
 
The signing ceremony was presided over by Yonglan Li, Senior Partner of DHH, who is in charge of compliance, knowledge management and "Super 2020" information transformation and upgrading project. Ms. Li welcomed and introduced the guests who attended the signing ceremony, reviewed the history and background of the cooperation between Thomson Reuters and DHH, and congratulated the two sides on their upcoming comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Mr. Shaohu Luan, Chairman of the Board of Partners, started the signing ceremony with a speech. He welcomed and thanked the distinguished guests. Chairman Luan mentioned that DHH launched a cooperation discussion with Thomson Reuters in 2018. We upgrade transformation with the software upgrade as the core is called "Super 2020" program in DHH, and this program ushered in the official launch today. This strategic partnership with Thomson Reuters will not only improve DHH's service capabilities and operating profits but will also attract China's best legal talents to join DHH in the future. This partnership is exciting and is a great test for the implementation by the both sides. We sincerely look forward to the completion of this "great and arduous task" by DHH and Thomson Reuters.

Mr. Qi Jiang, Managing Partner of DHH, later spoke on behalf of DHH. Mr. Jiang first reviewed the development path of DHH. He mentioned that DHH is one of china's first partnership law firms, as one of the largest legal service institutions in China and Asia, DHH are able to provide one-stop legal services to domestic and foreign clients. In the past five years, DHH has been adhering to the scale development road, rapidly growing from a local law firm to a global law firm and has enjoyed the initial dividends of scale development. The focus of the DHH’s strategic planning for the next phase will shift from scale to quality and achieve the goal of becoming one of the world's leading law firms through the transformation and upgrading of integrated construction. Based on many years of experience, DHH summed up the seven standard management systems of the law firm. Those included: brand management system, salary distribution system, promotion training system, knowledge management system, risk control system, customer service system, public support system. It has been stated that in order to achieve healthy operation for the law firm in the future it is crucial to connect the seven principles together.  

Mr. Jiang said that in line with the above objectives, DHH proposed the "Super 2020" program Group Information Upgrade Program, hoping to make improvements in the firm's fine management, business process management, compliance management, team collaboration, document management and automation, knowledge management and other aspects by taking advantage of international advanced Thomson Reuters Elite software system and its leading industry experience. In addition to software cooperation, both sides will make full use of their respective resources and platform advantages to achieve strategic cooperation in publicity, inspection and exchange of experience and other aspects and expand more space for future development. We hope this cooperation can become a model for future partnerships between Thomson Reuters and other Chinese law firms.

Carl Olson, General Manager of the Asia and Emerging Markets Legal Division of Thomson Reuters, later spoke on behalf of Thomson Reuters. Carl began by thanking DHH for its support. He noted that when he went to law school over 20 years ago, there were no technical tools to assist learning. With the rapid development of technology, today's legal work environment is not what it used to be. Thomson Reuters has always been highly concerned about the development of China's legal market, and will also set China as a strategy and region focus, and is pleased to help Chinese law firms from regionalization to nationalization and even globalization, as well as from scale to integration, with the help of its first-class legal office system such as Elite. Carl talked about a recent incident: Thomson Reuters helped a client in the Middle East to launch a legal provision searching system, which is not only in Arabic, but also in Chinese. This case is a good reflection of the importance of the Chinese market worldwide.
 
Carl noted that Thomson Reuters takes feedback from Chinese customers very seriously and use it wisely for the development of all products lines. This allows for a particular focus on the growth needs of Chinese customers and special characterstics of the market such as a rapid trend towards overseas markets. DHH has great potential for development, not only with a large number of lawyers and offices, but also with outstanding performance in the legal market, and it will become a leader in the Chinese legal market in the future. The strategic partnership with DHH has also been the attention of the top management of Thomson Reuters. Carl said Elite software system is one of Thomson Reuters' most important products because they reflect the values of Thomson Reuters: to help their customers grow up with their performance. In the future, Thomson Reuters and DHH will grow together, and both sides will continue to follow the pace of the times and technology through full feedback to truly achieve growth and transformation.

Subsequently, in the presence of all participants, Mr. Qi Jiang and Mr. Carl Olson formally signed a strategic partnership agreement on behalf of DHH and Thomson Reuters respectively. In the future, the two sides will cooperate comprehensively in software products, external publicity and resource sharing to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.
