On the afternoon of October 10, 2025, the Foreign Liaison and Exchange Committee of DHH&DH successfully hosted a themed sharing session titled "The Internationalization of Chinese Legal Practice: Law, Diplomacy, and Global Engagement." The event featured Prof. Marcus Vinicius De Freitas, a visiting professor at the China Foreign Affairs University and a senior researcher at the BRICS Policy Center in Brazil, as the keynote speaker. Alongside him were Lawyer Liu Sen and Lawyer Zhang Meiping, the Committee Directors. Leaders and members from various locations, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Qingdao, Jinan, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Suzhou, Foshan, Kunming, and Ningbo, gathered together through a combination of in-person attendance and online connectivity. This setup fully demonstrated the platform advantages of DHH&DH in terms of nationwide integrated collaboration and international exchange.

Professor Marcus started his talk by delving into the transformation of the legal profession in the context of globalization. He systematically expounded on the pivotal roles of public international law and private international law in transnational legal practice, emphasizing the role of lawyers as "legal diplomats" in cross-cultural communication and national image building. He pointed out that during the process of Chinese law firms and enterprises "going global," it is essential not only to master international rules and dispute resolution mechanisms but also to possess cultural sensitivity and diplomatic acumen.

During the free discussion session, lawyers from various offices engaged in interactive exchanges with Professor Marcus on practical topics such as the overseas expansion of Chinese enterprises and law firms, legal differences between China and Brazil, and cross-cultural communication for foreign-related lawyers. This highlighted the international perspective and professional depth of the nationwide team of DHH&DH lawyers.

This sharing session marked one of the key initiatives by the Foreign Liaison and Exchange Committee of DHH&DH to continuously enhance the internationalization capabilities of the law firm. Looking ahead, the committee will continue to leverage its network advantage, spanning multiple offices across the globe, to invite domestic and foreign experts and scholars. It will organize a series of events centered around themes such as international rule of law, cross-border legal services, and diplomatic practice, aiming to assist lawyers in enhancing their global practice capabilities and inject new impetus into the international development of Chinese law firms.
